Happy Valentines Day
I haven't written for a while. Quite frankly, I haven't felt inspired and I'm still not, but here's what's happening in my life.
I met a man. An honorable, honest man, a man I actually could like. He's a friend and he likes to hike and go to the movies and I think I could trust him. But he's leaving for Afghanistan in 3 weeks. It's just wasn't meant to be.
Sam got a mohawk and people were afraid to tell me because they though he would be in trouble. Actually it doesn't bother me. He's in college and he's supposed to do stuff like this. He is interviewing for a job at the college for the summer as a student guide. He'd be great at it. He loves school, but he's hungry for care packages with food. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is in the mail to him. Ben and I have had great fun teasing him about it and I considered duct taping all the bootie and breast shots but I just couldn't do it. Sam, Bar and Brooklyn are both taken and they are taller than you! But I bet they both would think Ben was cute.
Ben had been invited to play on a higher level soccer team, and then uninvited and then invited again, but then he was uninvited for good. He got to play one game with them and outplayed several of the players, but because I complained to the soccer board about the crazy situation, Ben was uninvited (final decision) because the the Coach was not happy that I complained. So he's still playing on his regular team and we are both happy to get away from the drama. Ben's grades were OK, but not great this semester. He admitted that he hadn't tried his hardest and was going to do better. Maybe he's maturing. He has a girlfriend, though I don't think they have even held hands. He wore his heart on his sleeve for Valentine's Day, but she told him she's moving to Oregon with her family in June. Poor kid, love is so hard. He got his hair cut for the first time since early fall. I had no idea his eyes were so beautiful.
I'm trying to get a ton of exercise, but my eating sucks. Swimming makes my jaw hurt worse, so I'm trying to just swim three times a week. I'm planning on hiking tomorrow and I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet of the woods. I just want to embrace and breathe it all in. Work is work. I don't know if I have the energy or even care enough to try to mend fences with my work mate. We just don't like each other and it is tough to work in complete silence every day. Luckily I can work in another section every once in a while. I love my patients and I don't want to quit and find another job, but I really hate my work environment.
Hope you all enjoy my Valentine Message. I was inspired after I saw two hawks sitting on a branch together today. I have never seen that before. Hawks are my favorite bird and this weekend I think I saw about twenty of them. They are fierce, proud and majestic. Today I found joy in seeing two of them together and imagining that they were mates and having a lovely moment watching the beautiful sunshine reflect off an unlucky mouse soon to be lunch!
