Mrs. O Leery's BBQ
I entered the Deluxe Spa and Nail Salon hoping it wouldn't take too long. My mistake, the place was crowded. I spent my time waiting by examining the polish colors on the wall. I picked out my usual color Dating A Royal and sat down to wait, but quickly became antsy and decided to take a closer look at the large palette of options. There were so many choices and I was soon pondering which color might look the better than Dating A Royal; Grand Canyon Sunset, Suzi Loves Cowboys, Charmed By a Snake, Chop Sticking My Story, Teal The Cows Come Home, Flit a Bit or maybe Mrs. O' Leery's BBQ. In my next life I want to be responsible for naming the huge variety of tones. I could totally do that job; the namer of hues, the titling of tints, or the princess of pigment. Give me a Thesaurus and a piece of paper and I would have a ball. But to pick a color for me, I left it up to the owner who ushered me to my seat. He quickly plucked Mrs. O'Leery's BBQ out of the bunch, a deep, dark red and assured me it was a good fall color. Good enough for me and I relaxed in the chair giving myself over to the process as a pretty young Asian girl started to work on my pathetically ugly feet. "Your toenails are so tiny, we should charge double" she giggled. After scrubbing, trimming, rubbing and massaging, my toes were finally ready for color. It turned out Mrs. O'Leery's BBQ was a good color and all the way home I admired my toes and thought how pretty they looked.
So why am I writing about my toes? Because it's easier than writing about my struggles with food and who I am without it. Because I need a break from my own angst. Because life is hard and I needed to lighten up. And finally because it's fun. Next time I going to try Suzy Loves Cowboys. I would like a cowboy.
